Many have asked us how IHOPKC is responding to the multiple crises facing our nation. We continue praying without ceasing for revival, for mercy, for the black community, for healing signs and wonders, and for the church to be conformed to the image of Christ, and for Jesus to be glorified in all things.
There is much noise and confusion, bickering and division, like clanging gongs seeking to overpower the voice of the One True Living God. If we speak we are faced with criticism. If we are silent we are criticized for our silence.
There is an invitation in this hour to incline ours ears to listen to Jesus, so we may be those who declare what God is speaking. I (Theresa) keep thinking of Job, who was severely tested and mistreated. Yet, even this righteous upright man was found guilty before God. Even when we are at our best, we are depraved and in need of the cross to justify us before the Father. May we be like Job who repented and laid a hand over his mouth to remain silent before God. Remaining silent before the Holy God does not diminish or make light of pain and injustice. God is the God of justice, He cares deeply about these things, and one day He will make all the wrong things right.
What holds your attention in this hour? Is it Jesus, Who is the Word Who walked life out for us to see in the Gospels? The true pure and simple Gospel is not inactive as some suppose. The true Gospel walked out will lead to the church doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly before this same God that spoke to Job out of the whirlwind. The Gospel has a lot to say about racism and even sickness and about all the current cultural issues facing us. Sometimes obeying Holy Spirit looks like speaking out, and sometimes obeying Holy Spirit looks like remaining silent. Will we be those who take the time—while there is time—to sit, listen, and behold. “Behold, God is great, and we do not know Him.” (Job 36:26) May we find ourselves like Jesus, Who only did what the Father did and only spoke what He heard the Father speaking.
