Our year can be summed up by two words: new experiences. This was our first year on a “normal” day schedule, which meant many changes in the day-to-day expression of ministry. To add to that transition, this year brought about our first pregnancy and firstborn son, Jeremiah. We want to reflect and celebrate with you for a moment on what God has done as we have labored together in the Great Commission working to see Jesus glorified through prayer and missions.
Hope City
Bringing Hope to Inner City KC
In January, we transitioned to our inner city ministry, Hope City. Jonathan began a worship team leading four to five two hour prayer meetings a week while Theresa serves as a prayer leader. In addition, we regularly find ourselves pastoring young adults. Hope City is located in one of Kansas City’s toughest neighborhoods. We labor to keep a prayer room 24 hours a day, five days a week, rescuing addicts, providing a safe place for rehabilitation, running a soup kitchen and food distribution to the neighborhood and providing showers and laundry services for the homeless. Our addiction recovery program incorporates community, prayer, and active pastoral ministry to see many set free from the power of addiction.
Anna Club
Calling the Elderly to Pray
In January, we also began the Anna Club, combining worship and prayer, at a local nursing home. We believe God has a destiny for the elderly. Regardless of their physical condition, they can change the nations through prayer. We have had wonderful testimonies from our prayer meetings including 3 salvations!
YWAM Together
Gathering Thousands of Missionaries to Kansas City Uniting the Prayer & Missions Movement
Early in IHOPKC’s history the Lord brought us together with Youth With a Mission (YWAM). YWAM is arguably the largest missions organization in history with well over 25,000 active missionaries who have served in every country on the planet. It was such a joy to help make their bi-annual conference a reality this year in Kansas City. During the conference IHOPKC committed afresh to support their worldwide efforts in prayer and YWAM re-committed to see houses of prayer birthed at every one of their missions bases worldwide. We are excited to see that prayer and missions really are coming together!
Help Haitian Young Man Become Self Sufficient
We are excited to partner with Heartline Ministries in Haiti to help Jeff, a 22 year old Jonathan began sponsoring when Jeff was only four years old. With our friends in Haiti, we have a dream that Jeff would become self-sufficient. We want him to be discipled in Christ and help him get the job skills he needs to provide for himself. We have so far been able to raise $685. We still need $4115 to cover a year of study and expenses. If you would like to partner with us simply check on the response card and include it with your gift and we will designate your gift to help Jeff in Haiti. We will send this money directly to Heartline to help him. Thank you for helping make this next year a reality for him!
