When I (Jonathan) was sixteen, I began to sponsor a four-year old Haitian boy named Jeff with Compassion International. Over the course of many mission trips to Haiti, I’ve been able to visit with him in person three different times. Jeff is now twenty years old.

Last week, a dear Haitian friend of ours, Chris, ministered to him over the phone. A couple of days later, we prayed at our weekly Wednesday 4am prayer meeting for Haiti. We prayed specifically for young men in Jeff’s hometown and even for him by name. During the prayer meeting, my friend, Chris, received this text from Jeff: “I woke up and I want you to pray for me.” We were amazed that he woke up desiring prayer even as we were praying for him in Kansas City an ocean away! God truly does hear prayer. Later, he told us he was going to go to church that Sunday. Chris is planning on visiting him when he goes to Haiti next month. Please pray for the power of the Holy Spirit as he ministers to Jeff and that God would give Theresa, Chris and I wisdom how to best help this young man.

Continuing to Build Our Partnership Team

We are taking an extended time to build our partnership team and share what God is doing through prayer, missions and works of justice. We will begin our trip in Southern Illinois, then venture to Minnesota, then head over to West Virginia, and will end our trip in Wisconsin. We are excited to encourage many with how the gospel is going forth and how young adults are being raised up in the ways of the Lord.
