In November, allegations of sexual immorality and abuse from many years ago were brought against the founder of the house of prayer in Kansas City, Mike Bickle. Immediately, he was asked to not come to the prayer room or preach as it was being investigated. In December, some allegations of sexual immorality were found to be credible and IHOPKC permanently separated from him.
During this time, outside help was brought in to look at our organization as a whole and to start implementing organizational changes that will only help the health of the entire missions base moving forward. We have a long way to go, but we continue to have trust in our leadership. We remain confident in our leaders over us pastorally and in a managerial sense as they continue to help bring healing to our community and look to the future.
This difficult time has only reassured Jonathan and I in our calling in ministry to labor that every nation would hear and know the love of God. We will continue ministering to the next generation to have their hearts full of love for Jesus and to minister in intercession and worship knowing that 24/7 prayer is vitally linked to the Great Commission and the Gospel going forth and Jesus being worshiped in all the nations of the earth. As we mourn deeply, we also welcome the fire of God and the fear of the Lord that is so clean to fill our hearts with greater amount of light as it removes any darkness hidden in the corners and crevices of our hearts and lives! If you have any questions or want to talk about any of this, please reach out to us anytime!
Raising up the Next Generation to Pray and Sing
We are thrilled to announce that Jonathan and I have agreed to step in as a bridge between our Global Prayer Room and our Children’s Equipping Center (CEC). Lenny, the leader of CEC felt God was telling Him to “not hang up the harp” meaning not to quit equipping children in prayer and worship. When he met with us he felt like God was also saying to not only not hang up “the harp” but to hand out “the harps”.
Our Malachi 4:6 prayer meeting, a children-led prayer meeting, has moved to Friday evenings during our staff church service so the missions base together with all ages can get back to the basics of night and day prayer, prayer and worship and simple devotion to Jesus. We are helping to facilitate and train the children and youth to lead and engage in prayer and worship like we have done for twenty-four years in our 24/7 prayer room. We will bring our adult worship teams around CEC so that this next generation will exceed and go further then what we could imagine for the body of Christ, making ready the church for the return of Jesus.
