Corrie Ten Boom often spoke of our lives as a weaving. First showing the backside, those she spoke to would only see the jumbled threads with no apparent pattern. However, when she would turn the cloth over it would display an intricately embroidered crown. In eternity we will clearly see our lives fully for how God saw them and all He was weaving and working together in our lives. Sometimes we get to catch glimpses into His poetry of what He is weaving together in our lives. Sometimes when we are going through a hard and dark season it’s hard to understand what God is doing, but He will show us glimpses if we keep looking to Him. Recently was one of those moments for myself (Theresa).
Several months ago I felt a sudden desire to learn how to run the sound board in the prayer room. A few weeks after beginning my training, a few needs arose that put my training to immediate practice from some devo and smaller team sets. I could have never planned that I would begin training and then suddenly be needed to use training shortly after! Some of the sound language seemed somewhat familiar to me from a distant past, and a memory came to mind that in late middle school or early high school I did my science fair project on sound waves and sound and the ear. It seemed so random at the time and I even had some judges ask me why I chose a project on sound and the ear, and I didn’t have a good answer except it seemed interesting! I had no idea that it would come into good use all these years later! I’m also learning the important lesson that it really is never too late to learn and try new things! I may be a bit slower to pick up on the training than some of the young adults, but I continue to ask tons of questions and learn!
Another poetry of God moment that happened this past year involved our oldest son who has autism. We have been sorting through and going through our huge stack and huge box of old files and folders to properly store the important documents and files and get rid of what is no longer needed. I came across a small folder of my old college class notes. I only kept what I must have deemed most important when I graduated college. Even though it wasn’t a lot, after I came across the folder, I opened it and right on the top were notes from a special autism class I forgot I had taken and a folder of how to make lesson plans for multiple intelligence learners and how to incorporate a multi-sensory approach to learning. The discovery of the folder coincided with our son receiving his official medical diagnosis and also the beginning of my homeschooling journey for our oldest three boys, all of whom have unique learning styles!
I want to encourage you that if you feel discouraged or in need of strength, I pray God shows you a glimpse of what He is perfectly weaving and working together in your life!
